What is ORTHOSKILL

An innovative technique against bone and cartilage degeneration that uses stem cells from your own adipose tissue.

ORTHOSKILL is an innovative technique for the treatment of mild to moderate degeneration of bone and cartilage. Based on the use of stem cells obtained from the adipose tissue of the person undergoing the treatment (ADSCs, Adipose-Derived Stem Cells), it is indicated in case of orthopedic problems associated with pain affecting the knee, hip, shoulder, ankle and other joints.

ORTHOSKILL exploits the regenerative components of fat to fight the degenerative conditions of bone and cartilage that can arise due to aging or trauma.

Advantages

Infiltration with stem cells activates and accelerates the repair processes of the connective tissue and the musculoskeletal system.

ORTHOSKILL is the only technique that intervenes on the degenerative processes of the tissues. When injected directly into the joint, stem cells replace aged or damaged cells with perfectly viable cells.

The ORTHOSKILL treatment allows the self-healing of tissues, avoiding the use of medical devices such as prostheses or means of synthesis.

Indications

ORTHOSKILL treatment is recommended in case of:

  • Cartilage lesions
They represent one of the most common and widespread conditions and correspond to the initial phase of the arthritic degenerative pathology.
  • Bone injuries
They consist of a partial or complete break in the continuity of the bone. They can be exposed (if the skin and soft parts above the bone are torn) or closed, displaced (if the fractured ends of the bone move relative to their location) or compound.
  • Tendon and muscle injuries
Tendon injuries are common in sports people, particularly in sports that involve jumps and physical effort or following a repeated overload of athletic movement or strenuous work activities. Endocrine disorders (such as thyroid problems) and muscle imbalances are considered to be predisposing factors.
Muscle injuries are frequent, especially among athletes and can be caused by direct or indirect trauma.
  • Arthrosis
This is a degenerative disease that affects the joints. When it occurs, new connective tissue and new bone form around the affected area. Generally, the joints that are most subject to wear are more affected, mainly due to the body’s weight.

Results

The first improvements are visible already after 3-4 weeks and are completed on a deeper structural level after about 6-8 weeks.

As it is an organic product, its therapeutic efficacy is closely related not only to your chronological age but also to your biological age. The latter is linked to lifestyle and general physical conditions; obesity, smoking, alcohol, and drugs affect it negatively.

Note: the quality of the organic product, and therefore its therapeutic efficacy, is closely related to the lifestyle and physical condition of the patient (obesity, smoking, alcohol, and drugs will have a negative effect).

What to expect?

  • Repair of cartilage and bone damage caused by trauma and aging
  • Rapid disappearance of joint pain
  • Quick recovery of mobility
  • Recovery of vitality 3-4 weeks after treatment (6-8 weeks for more complicated interventions)

Note: There is no ideal frequency to perform this procedure; it all depends on the severity of the condition and the patient’s physical response. Usually, a single treatment may be sufficient, even if it is possible to carry out several treatments over time.

Procedure

The ORTHOSKILL regenerative technique is based on the implantation of mesenchymal stem cells obtained from your own adipose tissue. The procedure is simple and painless.

Collection and Sampling
20 cc of fat is collected during a simple (quick and painless) outpatient treatment.

Extraction and Expansion
The Bioscience Institute laboratories perform the extraction of stem cells from the fat removed.
The extracted cells are expanded in about 3-4 weeks. The laboratory produces about 20 test tubes of cells, some of which will be used for the required treatment (or for several different treatments).

ORTHOSKILL treatment
The expanded cells are injected into the tissue being treated.
The injected cells release specific growth factors and promote tissue regeneration.

Freezing and Preservation
The remaining test tubes can be frozen and cryopreserved for 3 years at the request of the customer. Cryopreservation guarantees use for new and future treatments in Regenerative Medicine.
