Exosome for Skin Treatments

The EXOSKIN exosome skin booster protocol: methods, the session, number of sessions

Not sure where to start?

EXOSKIN is Bioscience Institute's exosome therapy for skin treatments: an exosome skin booster protocol in which exosomes from adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells are delivered into the dermis by microinjection, mesotherapy or cannula to stimulate collagen and elastin. It is used for skin aging, wrinkles, head and neck aging, and scars and stretch marks, in outpatient sessions planned as a course.

This page explains the EXOSKIN protocol: the product, the delivery methods, what happens in a session and how many sessions are needed. For a complete guide to what exosomes do for the face, results and side effects, read our topic page on exosomes for face and skin; the science behind exosomes is in our guide to exosome therapy.

EXOSKIN: four specialised treatment areas

EXOSKIN uses adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (AD-MSC) exosomes to target four groups of skin concerns through their regenerative, anti-inflammatory and angiogenic properties.

Exosome for skin aging

SKIN AGING

Counter the visible signs of aging through cellular regeneration. AD-MSC exosomes stimulate cell proliferation, collagen synthesis and matrix remodelling while providing antioxidant protection, improving the skin's appearance, texture and firmness.

Exosome for wrinkles

WRINKLES

Soften fine lines and wrinkles naturally. Exosomes promote collagen synthesis, cell proliferation and matrix remodelling to improve skin elasticity and firmness. Combined with autologous fat transfer, they also support the graft where volume is lost.

Exosome for head and neck

HEAD AND NECK AGING

Address aging in delicate areas. Exosomes promote skin rejuvenation, soft tissue volume restoration and better blood supply to the neck and facial regions, for patients seeking non-surgical solutions.

Exosome for scars

SCARS AND STRETCH MARKS

Support the repair of damaged skin. Exosomes regulate collagen synthesis and remodelling, promote cell proliferation and reduce inflammation, for hypertrophic, keloid and atrophic scars and for stretch marks from pregnancy or weight changes.

Each area has its own page with the condition explained in depth: exosome treatment for skin aging, exosome treatment for wrinkles, exosome treatment for head and neck aging and exosomes for scars and stretch marks.

What is an exosome skin booster?

An exosome skin booster is a treatment that delivers exosomes into the skin to boost its own regeneration, rather than filling it with a gel. EXOSKIN works this way: exosomes boost the skin's natural healing process, especially when delivered deep into the dermis, so the skin can rebuild itself from the inside out.

Classic skin boosters based on hyaluronic acid hydrate the dermis directly. An exosome booster instead signals fibroblasts to produce more collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid themselves, which is why its results build over weeks rather than appearing on the day of treatment.

How do exosomes stimulate collagen production in skin?

Exosomes stimulate collagen production by transferring growth factors such as transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) to fibroblasts, the collagen-making cells of the dermis. These signals switch on collagen and elastin synthesis and regulate the balance between building and breaking down the extracellular matrix.

According to Bioscience Institute, EXOSKIN can increase collagen in the treated areas by up to six-fold and elastin levels by up to 300%. At the same time, exosomes promote the proliferation of fibroblasts and keratinocytes, support new small blood vessels through vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), calm inflammation and protect cells from oxidative stress with antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx). Together these effects improve thickness, firmness, texture and tone.

Inside the EXOSKIN protocol: delivery methods

Depending on the treatment area and your needs, EXOSKIN exosomes are delivered by microinjection, mesotherapy, cannula injection or a combination. Each method places the exosomes in the dermis in a different way.

MethodHow it worksTypically used for
MicroinjectionPrecise injections at individual pointsSingle lines, scars, small areas
MesotherapyMany superficial micro-injections across an areaOverall texture, radiance, fine lines on the face
Cannula injectionA blunt cannula reaches a wide area from few entry pointsNeck, cheeks, larger zones
Combined approachExosomes applied after microneedling or laser, or methods mixedScars, stretch marks, resurfacing plans

The specialist chooses the method for each zone, so one session can combine, for example, a cannula for the neck with microinjections for the lines around the eyes.

What happens in an EXOSKIN session

  1. Consultation and photos: skin type, concerns and goals are assessed and standardised photographs are taken.
  2. Preparation: the skin is cleansed and disinfected, and an anaesthetic cream can be applied.
  3. Delivery: the exosomes are placed into the dermis with the method planned for each area.
  4. Finish: the skin is calmed and protected, and you leave the clinic the same day.

The exosomes are extracted from human mesenchymal stem cells and thoroughly tested for quality and quantity. Containing lipids, messenger RNA, cytokines and proteins, they are administered according to the specialist's recommendation, after a strict screening process that certifies sterility, safety for use and endotoxin levels.

Aftercare and downtime

Downtime after EXOSKIN is short. Mild redness, slight swelling or small marks at the injection points are common in the first hours and settle quickly; after microneedling or laser, recovery follows the timeline of that procedure.

Gentle cleansing, avoiding make-up for the period your specialist advises and daily sun protection help the skin recover. Your specialist will also tell you when to restart active products such as retinoids or acids.

How many EXOSKIN sessions are needed?

EXOSKIN is planned as a course of sessions followed by maintenance, because each session triggers a new cycle of collagen production. The number depends on the area, the concern and your skin: changes in fine texture need fewer sessions than deep scars or white stretch marks.

Results build gradually as new collagen forms and matures, so they are judged with photographs some time after the last session. Maintenance sessions from time to time keep up collagen production as the skin continues to age.

Who EXOSKIN suits

EXOSKIN suits adults who want to improve skin quality without surgery: people with signs of aging, wrinkles, crepey neck skin, scars or stretch marks; people with sensitive skin or allergies to components of synthetic fillers; and patients who already have laser, microneedling or peels and want to enhance the result. Good general health and no active skin infection are required.

The quality behind EXOSKIN

EXOSKIN exosomes come from expanded human mesenchymal stem cells, chosen for potency and consistency, and are produced in Bioscience Institute's GMP-certified laboratories. Every batch is tested for sterility, endotoxins, potency and purity before clinical use. Exosomes are cell-free, so no living cells are injected, and they have low immunogenicity.

EXOSKIN in the clinic, XSKIN at home

Between sessions, home care keeps the skin hydrated and protected. XSKIN, Bioscience's advanced moisturising face cream, is designed to hydrate and nourish the skin and is described on the XSKIN page; the full range is on our page on exosome cosmetics.

Cosmetics care for the skin surface, while the clinical EXOSKIN protocol reaches the dermis. For the comparison with the closest in-clinic alternative, see exosomes vs PRP.

What affects the cost of EXOSKIN

The cost of EXOSKIN depends on the number of areas, the delivery method and the number of sessions.

  • Areas: face, neck, décolletage, hands, or body areas with scars or stretch marks.
  • Method: microinjection, mesotherapy, cannula, or a combination with microneedling or laser.
  • Number of sessions and maintenance.
  • Assessment and follow-up.
