EXOSPORT is Bioscience Institute's exosome treatment for sports performance: exosomes from mesenchymal stem cells are given by targeted injection into muscles, tendons or joints, or by intravenous infusion, to support recovery between training sessions and the tissue health that performance depends on. It is planned around your training calendar, with minimal downtime and a modified training programme during the course.
This page describes the EXOSPORT protocol: what it is designed to do, who it is for, how a course runs, how it fits the season and what to check if you compete. How exosomes act on injury and inflammation is explained on our page on exosome treatment for the body, and the general science in our guide to exosome therapy.
What EXOSPORT is designed to do
EXOSPORT aims to help the body recover and adapt faster, so that training produces results rather than injuries. Its goals are:
- Faster muscle recovery: MSC exosomes stimulate muscle cell proliferation and differentiation and reduce exercise-induced inflammation.
- Healthier joints and tendons: they support cartilage and tendon repair and joint balance, which matters under repetitive strain.
- Endurance and energy metabolism: better mitochondrial function and ATP production, with less oxidative stress, support sustained effort.
- Cardiovascular support: angiogenesis and better vascular function improve the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to working muscle.
- Return after injury: by supporting tissue repair and modulating inflammation, exosomes can shorten the road back to training and competition.
Who EXOSPORT is for
EXOSPORT is for athletes and active people who want to recover better and protect their tissues:
- professional athletes with dense competition calendars;
- amateur athletes who run, cycle, swim, lift or play team sports;
- ageing athletes who want to counter an age-related decline in recovery, muscle strength and joint health;
- athletes returning from injury, such as muscle strains, tendon tears or joint problems;
- teams and clubs that build recovery programmes with their medical staff.
Ageing athletes are a growing group. With age, muscle mass, tendon resilience and recovery capacity decline, so the same session causes more soreness and takes longer to absorb. For them, EXOSPORT is mainly about keeping training consistent and joints comfortable.
The EXOSPORT protocol step by step
- Sports medicine assessment: your sport, training load, injury history and current complaints, with imaging and blood tests where useful.
- Personal plan: the physician chooses targeted injections, an intravenous infusion or both, and sets the sessions around your calendar.
- Treatment session: injections into the chosen muscles, tendons or joints, guided where needed, or an infusion while you sit comfortably; both are outpatient.
- Modified training: load is adjusted for a short period and physiotherapy continues, so repair and training work together.
- Review: recovery, pain, strength and training data are compared with the starting point, and the plan is adjusted.
Fitting EXOSPORT into the training season
The best time for EXOSPORT depends on your goal: repair, preparation or maintenance. The table shows how it can fit each phase.
| Season phase | Main goal | How EXOSPORT can fit |
|---|---|---|
| Off-season | Repair accumulated damage | Treat lingering tendon, joint or muscle problems while load is low |
| Pre-season | Prepare for higher load | Support recovery as training volume rises |
| In-season | Recover between competitions | Targeted sessions planned away from key events |
| After injury | Return to play | Part of the rehabilitation plan, with physiotherapy |
Sessions are placed away from important competitions, so that the short period of modified training does not interfere with them.
Exosomes and anti-doping rules
Athletes who compete under anti-doping rules should check any treatment with their team doctor or federation before starting. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) publishes its Prohibited List every year, and the rules on biological and cell-derived treatments can change.
Ask for written details of the product, the route and the date of each session, so your medical staff can review them and handle a therapeutic use exemption if one is needed.
Why exosomes rather than stem cells or PRP?
Exosomes carry many of the repair signals of stem cells without introducing living cells. They are cell-free, stable and easy to store, carry a lower risk of immune reactions and act without having to engraft in the tissue, which makes them practical to schedule around training.
Stem cell therapy uses living cells and is described on our page on stem cell therapy for body performance; PRP uses platelets from your own blood. Our comparisons of exosomes vs stem cells and exosomes vs PRP explain when each one is chosen.
Quality of EXOSPORT exosomes
EXOSPORT uses exosomes extracted from expanded human mesenchymal stem cells, chosen for potency and consistency. They carry lipids, messenger RNA, cytokines and proteins, are produced in GMP-certified laboratories, and every batch is tested for sterility, endotoxins, potency and purity before clinical use.
Working with your coach and physiotherapist
EXOSPORT works best as part of the training plan, not as a separate event. Before the first session, the physician agrees with you, and where possible with your coach or team physiotherapist, which tissue is being treated, what the training load will be in the following days and how progress will be measured.
Objective markers make the review useful: strength and range-of-motion tests, the load a tendon tolerates, training volume and how you feel in the days after hard sessions. Comparing them with the starting point shows whether the plan is working and when a maintenance session makes sense.
Safety and side effects
EXOSPORT is an outpatient treatment with minimal downtime. After targeted injections, soreness or mild swelling at the injection site can last a short time; after an infusion you go home the same day. Exosomes are cell-free and have low immunogenicity.
The physician checks your medical history, medication and any active infection before treatment, and confirms the diagnosis of any injury with an examination and, where needed, imaging. A complete rupture or an unstable fracture needs a surgical assessment first.
What results to expect
EXOSPORT supports recovery and tissue health; it does not replace training, nutrition or sleep. Athletes judge it by how they recover between sessions, how injuries progress and whether they can train consistently. Muscle responds faster than tendons and ligaments, which remodel over months, so the plan is reviewed with patience and data.
What affects the cost of EXOSPORT
The cost depends on the route, the number of treated areas and sessions, and the assessment needed.
- Targeted injections, infusion or both.
- Number of sessions across the season.
- Imaging, blood tests and guidance.
- Follow-up and coordination with your team.

FAQ
What is EXOSPORT?
EXOSPORT is Bioscience Institute's exosome treatment for athletes: exosomes from mesenchymal stem cells given by targeted injection or infusion to support recovery, tissue repair and endurance.
Is EXOSPORT allowed for competitive athletes?
Check with your team doctor or federation before starting, because the WADA Prohibited List is updated every year. Ask for written details of the product and route for your medical staff.
Can I train after an EXOSPORT session?
Yes, with a modified programme for a short period. Downtime is minimal, and your physician and physiotherapist adjust the load.
How is EXOSPORT given?
By targeted injections into muscles, tendons or joints, by intravenous infusion for a whole-body effect, or both. All sessions are outpatient.
When in the season should I do EXOSPORT?
The off-season suits the repair of accumulated damage, the pre-season prepares you for higher load, and in-season sessions are planned away from key competitions.
Does EXOSPORT improve endurance?
MSC exosomes support mitochondrial function, ATP production and blood supply, which underpin endurance. The practical aim is better recovery, so that you can train more consistently.
How many EXOSPORT sessions are needed?
It depends on your goals, injuries and calendar. The physician sets a plan after assessment and reviews it against your recovery and training data.
