Description

Microbalance by the Bioscience Institute is a multi-target nutraceutical that aims to promote the balance of the intestinal flora through a mix of probiotics that are allied to the well-being of the intestine, enzymes that promote digestive processes and natural extracts with digestive and antioxidant properties.

The Lactobacillus genus represents the largest group of lactic bacteria. Commonly present in the oral cavity, intestine and vagina, they produce lactic acid, a substance capable of inhibiting the growth of other microorganisms and lowering the pH of the environment in which they live (1,2,3). Lactobacillus acidophilus has been extensively studied for its ability to promote the maintenance of the balance of the intestinal bacterial flora (1). Lactobacillus plantarum is also considered to be an interesting probiotic useful for maintaining and regulating the intestinal microbiota (2). The probiotic potential of Lactobacillus rhamnosus instead depends on its antibacterial properties against intestinal pathogens, to which is added the ability to stimulate the immune system (3). Several species belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium also colonize the gastrointestinal tract, where they play an important role in maintaining the homeostasis of the intestinal ecosystem; in particular, their action is thought to depend on the production of bacteriocins (bacteriostatic agents with a broad spectrum of action) and the ability to lower the pH. Their presence has been associated with positive effects such as the prevention of diarrhea, the improvement of lactose intolerance and the modulation of immune responses. Bifidobacterium bifidum, commonly isolated from human feces, is currently used as a probiotic to ensure healthy intestinal flora (4).

EnzyBlend® is a digestive enzymatic blend obtained through the fermentation of maltodextrins. Compared to other types of enzymes of animal or vegetable origin, it offers the advantage of digesting both proteins and carbohydrates, fats, fibers, and lactose. The enzymes that compose it are characterized by maximum activity at the temperature of the human body and work in a wide range of pH (3.0-9.0); for this they can start working already in the stomach, reducing the workload for the pancreas. Amylase and glucoamylase participate in the starch digestion, proteases in that of proteins, lipase in that of fats and lactase in that of lactose. Pectinase and cellulase digest, respectively, the pectin and cellulose present in the cell wall of plant cells.

The Melissa officinalis L. leaves and the fruits of wild Fennel are recognized as having the ability to participate in the digestive function, in the regulation of intestinal motility and in the elimination of gases. Additionally, lemon balm is considered an antioxidant (6).

Benefits in terms of digestive function and elimination of intestinal gas are also attributed to the leaves of Artichoke. They are also considered allies of the liver functions and the purifying functions of the organism and are attributed antioxidant properties (6).

Bamboo is instead a source of silicon, a potential ally of immune responses (7).

Ingredients: Melissa officinalis L. (12% total hydroxycinnamic derivatives expressed as rosmarinic acid), EnzyBlend® enzyme complex from plant substrates fermented with Aspergillus oryzae, Aspergillus niger and Rhizopus oryzae (Amylase, Glucoamylase, Protease, Lactulase, Pectinase Lipase), DRcaps ™ gastro-protected vegetable capsule (Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Gellan gum), Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) leaves and (2.5% total polyphenols expressed as cynarin), wild fennel (Foeniculum vulgare M.) fruits and s (0, 9-1.1% essential oil), Lactobacillus Acidophilus (DSM 24936), corn starch, Bifidobacterium Bifidum (CNCM I-5091), anti-caking agent: Magnesium carbonate; Bamboo (Bambusa arundinacea) shoots eg (75% Silicon dioxide of natural origin), Lactobacillus Plantarum (DSM 24937), anti-caking agent: Glycerol beenate; Lactobacillus Rhamnosus (DSM 25568).
